Exciting Scope and Opportunities for IT Graduates in Australia

Most of us know that Australia is one of the most fabulous destinations for overseas students and the Government of Australia has made some remarkable efforts to promote international students to work in this country. Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) is one such effort. Under this visa, a student can stay and work in Australia after completing his/her studies.

Seeing a rising demand for professionals with Information Technology (IT) skills, the governing bodies have introduced many skill development programs. In addition to that, the new e-Government strategy has boosted the need for a skilled IT workforce. That’s the reason why, the Australian Public Service (APS) has been hiring professionals in different domains such as project management, security management, system analysis, software development, and website administration.

Moreover, the Professional Year in IT has been designed specifically for the candidates who have earned a graduate degree in Information Technology from an Australian university. The program aims to provide practical knowledge and training needed so that they could enhance their career prospects.

The 44-week program comprises three stages:

In the first stage, students are provided with the theoretical and practical knowledge to make them understand the Australian industry setting in the IT field.

In the second stage, international students gain work experience and polish their communication skills. Through professional work integrated placement, i.e. an internship, IT graduates come to know about the Australian workplace culture, ethics and language.

During the final stage, you’ll consolidate your internship experience and prepare to start the next stage of your life- working in the area or profession of your choice.

Successful completion of the PY program will give you five migration points towards a permanent stay in this beautiful country. Engineering and accounting graduate can also consider the Professional Year in Engineering and accounting, respectively.
